Disney Land
One day a man named Walt Disney had a dream of a place where children and there parents could have fun. The original plan for the park was a eight acre plot next to Bur Bank studios. But when World War II came his plans were put on hold. During the war he came up with amazing new ideas and plans for the park and it became clear that eight acres would not be enough room. Finally he decided on a 100 acre park. It would have waterfalls, rivers, mountains, flying elephants, giant teacups, a fairy tale castle, moon rockets, and a scenic railway. He decided to call it Disney Land. It opened July 17, 1955. Walt Disney died December 15,1966. Disney still continues to be a wonderful, magical place and a great highlight of West Region tourism.
